Take a trip down memory lane, as we transport you back to the traditions of a by-gone year with Summer Fetes InDurham, taking place between Tuesday 29th May and Friday 1st June.
Visit the stall holders on Elvet Bridge selling handmade goodies, or why not turn your hand to crafts and even give a spot of up-cycling a go with our green-fingered friends, through special planting activities at Millennium Place?
All in the name of a good cause, activities taking place at Millennium Place and stall holders on Elvet Bridge, will be raising fund and awareness of charities and local community groups.
There’ll be activities taking place across the City such as traditional summer games, vintage rides, exciting treasure hunts and even the chance to learn some circus skills. We’ve a fantastic line-up of local dance and singing groups as well as traditional folk music to keep you entertained too.
Why not pop along and learn how you grow flowers and veg in almost anything! With demos from the Durham In Bloom team and Age UK County Durham, there will be seed and plant giveaways, as well as competitions to see who can create the most unique planter by re-using rather than recycling random finds you might find around your home, with a generous prize provided by our friends at Durham Cathedral!
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s take a trip down memory lane and celebrate the community spirit of Durham City with the quintessentially English tradition of the summer school fair.
