Durham County Council’s link of friendship with the German town of Tübingen is 50 years old this year.
There is a programme of events throughout the year but our main focus will be on 13 June.
A number of events will take place that day in and around Millennium Place
The programme for the day is
1130 German storytelling at Clayport library (repeated at 1330 and 1815)
Steffen Sixt, photographer will be exhibiting at Gala Gallery
1730 Some 200 children will perform for parents and carers on a stage in Millennium Place
1800 Screening of German film, “Toni Erdmann” in Gala
1830 NASUWT Riverside Brass will play a number of German pieces in Millennium Place
1915 Tübingen Saxophon Ensemble will perform on stage – The 19 strong group plays a mostly classical repertoire.
2015 Local folk group, Skerne, has a long standing partnership with Tübingen and will close the evening.
There will also be readings given by writers involved in a poetry exchange project.
We hope to have anniversary beer for sale; brewed by local micro brewers and partners in Tübingen, as well as a hot food offer.
